RICE COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just after 8a.m. Monday in Rice County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1980 Suzuki driven by Christopher Leo Detmer, 66, Lyons, was westbound on U.S.56 just west of 11th Road.
The motorcycle rear-ended a 2018 International semi driven by Gerald Todd Aguilera, 61, Chase, who was slowing or stopped to make a turn.
Detmer was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the north ditch. EMS transported him to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Aguilera and a passenger in the semi were not injured. Detmer was wearing a helmet and the occupants of the semi properly restrained, according to the KHP.
