The Hays High soccer team has taken its lumps this fall with a 10-0 loss to Salina Central and a 6-0 loss to Dodge City. But after an 8-1 win against Great Bend Tuesday evening at The Cav, the Indians moved to 2-0 against the Panthers this season by a combined score of 14-2.

Panther keeper Mario Enriquez had his work cut out for him for his stint in the game, starting with a penalty kick from Hays senior Diego Muller just three minutes into the game. Enriquez answered with a save a minute later, and Hays put the ball over the cross bar a minute after that.

Great Bend stayed in the game early thanks to a takeaway from junior Alex Galindo deep in Indian territory. Galindo beat the final Hays defender and slipped it by the keeper for an equalizer in the eighth minute.

But it was all Hays after that. Senior Jace St. Peter answered with his own steal and goal just over two minutes later, giving the Indians the lead for good at 2-1. Enriquez made several saves in the first half and early in the second, but Indian junior Edwin Muller scored an early goal late in the first half for a 4-1 halftime score, and the Indians doubled their tally in the second half.
