There is water, snacks and good conversation lined up for Saturday’s
Laundry Love in Great Bend hosted by the United Way of Central Kansas.
The mission of Laundry Love is to wash the clothes and bedding of low- and
no-income families and individuals. With no questions asked, anyone can stop by
and receive up to five loads of laundry done for free.
United Way Executive Director Charell Owings said the monthly event started in
August and has been a good resource to hear what community members need.
"We're loving it so far," said Owings. "We've really made some great connections with people that we wouldn't have made otherwise. It's easy to start conversations with people. It really makes for engaging topics and fun interaction."
Laundry Love is scheduled for the third Saturday each month, and this Saturday’s
event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Discount Laundry on Jefferson Street,
just behind the Subway restaurant.
