The Great Bend Recreation Commission is geared to provide leisure, culture, sports, fitness and educational programs to improve the quality of the community. That quality will soon be available through an online app.
Along with the ability to rent facilities, check sports schedules and enroll in classes, Great Bend Rec Director Chris Umphres said the app will allow citizens to reserve one of the dirt baseball or softball fields.
"With the dirt fields in town, we're going to let coaches get on the app and schedule for whatever is open," said Umphres. "If a father or mother wants to go out there with their children, they can reserve it and know that no else is going to show up."
Reserving the turf fields at the Great Bend Sports Complex will still go through Rec staff with the Bombers Baseball and Quicksilver Softball organizations renting the facility.
Umphres said a soft opening for the app is underway and the Rec plans to fully use the app by this summer.
