Great Bend nursing home tenant arrested on drug charges

On Wednesday, June 12, at approximately 3:15 p.m., officers from the Great Bend Police Department, in coordination with Central Kansas Community Corrections, responded to a narcotics complaint at Azria Health Woodhaven, located off K-96 Highway in Great Bend.

Facility staff reported concerns from residents about a fellow tenant allegedly using and possibly distributing illegal substances within the premises. Upon arrival, officers detained Larry Carpenter, age 71, for investigation.

A subsequent search of Carpenter's residence revealed suspected methamphetamine and related drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Carpenter was found to be in violation of the Kansas Drug Tax Stamp Act. Carpenter was arrested and transported to the Barton County Jail, where he was booked in lieu of bond.
