Officers with the Great Bend Police Department continue to make a difference through various outreach programs in the community. Spots are filling up for the popular Cast with a Cop event scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6 at Veterans Memorial Park.
Registration began Monday this week and will close Friday. Interested parties may register at the Great Bend Police Department, 1121 Baker Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no registration fee.
Participants must be between the ages of 8 and 14. Only 30 spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cast with a Cop will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Aug. 6, with a free lunch provided. The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks will provide loaner fishing poles and bait, which will also be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants may also bring their own gear. Pickup and drop-off for the event will be on the south side of Veterans Lake.
