Ever wanted to learn how to square dance? A new group in Hoisington is ready to teach. Stephanie Jarrett, director of the Hoisington Trotters Square Dance Club, said square dancing has many benefits, and skill levels of all kinds are welcome on Friday evenings for some dancing fun. Square dancing is much different than line dancing.

"Line dancing is where you dance by yourself and you learn routines," she explained. "The whole group does the same moves. In square dancing, you're in a square of eight people, which is four couples. The caller tells you what moves to do. You're having fun in the square. You're having fun keeping up. It gives you good exercise. You're having social interaction with other people, so you're not by yourself like with line dancing."

A fee to join the club is yet to be determined. Friday nights of dancing will likely begin at 7 p.m. with a potluck-style meal at the Last Supper Church, 354 W. 1st Street in Hoisington. Dancing will go from 8-10 p.m. with instructions for new dancers and square dances for the experienced.

Anyone interested in joining the Hoisington Trotters Square Dance Club can text or call Jarrett at (817) 301-4827.
