Big-screen televisions, kitchen gadgets, treat baskets, electronics, and lots and lots of gift cards. Today is the day to purchase raffle tickets for a cause. DL Window Tint, 1724 22nd Street in Great Bend, is selling tickets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to benefit the family of 14-year-old Rubi Paulina Perez, who was murdered on April 8 and found the following morning.
“We are hoping to get the whole community to come together for this beautiful, most humble family,” said Pamela Luna with DL Window Tint. “We pray for both sides of the families, but right now our focus is to lay this beautiful girl to rest and give the family some financial support.”
The Lunas have done fundraisers for other families in need, raising as much as $13,000 for one family. As of last weekend, some 100 items had been donated by the Great Bend community and beyond for the raffle. By Thursday's deadline to donate, that number easily exceeded 100 items.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. A large crowd showed up Friday evening to purchase tickets. Saturday is a full day, as raffle tickets will be sold today from 5-7 p.m. at DL Window Tint. The drawing will take place early next week. All proceeds will benefit Rubi's family.
