Early estimates showed the .15% quality of life sales tax in Great Bend would collect $567,000 in a year. With the city recently receiving some of their best tax collections in history, that number could be on the rise.
A 10-year
master plan has outlined a number of goals the city can take on, and Interim
City Administrator Logan Burns said the city council will conduct a work
session on Feb. 21 to organize the next projects.
"We'll go over the plans for each project," said Burns. "Brit Spaugh Park and the splashpad will be the biggest projects, but we'll be going through all the small ones as well."
The Quality of Life committee and the city anticipate the splashpad to be
installed at Veterans Memorial Park, but a definite location has not been
finalized. The Brit Spaugh Park project includes adding a basketball court,
pickleball courts and a mini soccer pitch on the south side of the park.
The council will discuss all the projects on the master plan after their
meeting on Feb. 21 at City Hall.
