The City of Great Bend put out bids for construction of the asphalt resurfacing project for the 2024 financial year. The project includes 13 blocks on the 281 Bypass, 24th Street and Harrison Street. The intent for the resurfacing project is to get high-volume streets with full-depth repairs and capped with asphalt. There’s also an effort to prioritize residential streets as well.
The 281 Bypass repair will go from 10th Street to Main Street. The Harrison Street portion will go from 10th Street to Broadway Avenue. The 24th Street repair ranges from the Bypass to McCormick Street.
Venture Corporation was the only bid the city received at $938,900. Work is expected to begin the last week of September.
A motion to approve the bid from Venture will be presented at the Great Bend City Council meeting on Monday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
