With a theme of “A New Beginning” this year, the Barton County Fair is off to a good beginning and will look to continue the momentum into the weekend.
Fair Board President Charles Atkinson noted it is just nice to see people back at the fairgrounds at the Great Bend Expo Complex after last year went to a virtual show due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Friday, July 9 is full of more 4-H events,
commercial exhibits, a corn hole competition, food vendors and live
entertainment.
"Homebrew will be performing Friday night and they'll do a great job," said Atkinson. "It's $5 and you get to sit back and listen to some music and be together again. We'll also have our hometown fun night where we have built 27 games. For a $5 wristband you can play the games and win prizes."
Saturday, July 10 will include a family bike ride, tractor pull, mutton bustin’, sand
volleyball tournament, family fun night and country music featuring Ricochet.
"We're all about having a good time," said Atkinson. "I know a lot of people were looking forward to a carnival, but with the year we've had in the past, my board and volunteers are working hard to have fun. We still have great food and entertainment."
