Great Bend Economic Development Director Sara Hayden is looking for
better weather a month after the debut for “Final Fridays on Forest.” Strong
winds ended April’s downtown social gathering early, but the Great Bend Alive
organization is ready to celebrate another evening outdoors with live music,
food, drinks and entertainment.
Final Fridays on Forest barricades a portion of Forest Avenue, from Williams to
Main, and now includes the alleyway between Forest and Lakin Avenue. Citizens
can stroll through this consumption district between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. and
consume alcoholic beverages while enjoying the entertainment.
Hayden said Great Bend Alive is looking for volunteers for the event.
"If you want to donate just an hour of your time to be a gate volunteer, we'd love to have you," said Hayden. "That entails sitting at the gate to make sure cups stay within the area."
The online sign up for volunteers can be found at gbedinc.com or the Great Bend
Alive Facebook page.
