This Saturday will mark the seventh year of the Paws & Claws Car Show, a fundraiser for the Golden Belt Humane Society. The show will include cars, trucks, motorcycles and other vehicles at Brit Spaugh Park in Great Bend. Volunteer Cathy Von Feldt said the money goes toward the direct care of the animals at the shelter.
"Usually once a month we sell food at Bomgaars," said Von Feldt. "Sometimes it's walking tacos or in the winter time we do soups. There are all kinds of fundraisers we try to do. It's so necessary. Without all of the fundraisers and donations, we would not have a humane society. I don't know how we would run that shelter without all the help."
The day will also include food trucks, music and raffles.
"We started this at the Walnut Bowl," said Von Feldt. "It grew and grew, and we decided to move the venue to the park. We moved it up to May and it has made a big difference. It has really improved over the years."
For a $10 suggested donation, walking tacos and hotdog meals will be available.
