Oscar Espinosa, age 79

Oscar Ruperto Espinosa, 79, passed away September 9, 2024, at Diversicare of Larned in Larned, Kansas. He was born September 1, 1945, to Joe and Natalia (Ramirez) Espinosa in Great Bend.

Oscar married Shari Kagle August 8, 1970, in Great Bend. He was one of Jehovah’s witnesses. He most recently worked as a fabricator for Primus Sterilizer, Great Bend, retiring in 2007, and previously worked for Essex in Hoisington. He was a Vietnam veteran with the United States Army. Oscar was an excellent cook that could be found in the kitchen making salsa with his bounty of ingredients from his garden. He was known to many as "Burrito Man", which he answered to joyfully. Oscar was a man of many talents and loved to sing while playing the guitar. He found relaxation in casting a line, fishing. But his greatest love was his cherished wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shari Espinosa; three sons: Jason Espinosa of Hoisington, Vance Espinosa of McPherson, Matthew Espinosa and his wife Sheri of Albert; sisters, Jane Stejskal of Great Bend, Lalita Semon and her husband Mark of Wichita; five brothers: Joseph Espinosa of Great Bend, Butch Espinosa of Great Bend, Lawrence Espinosa and wife Karla of Great Bend, Gilbert Espinosa and his wife Cindy of St. Louis, MO, Robert Espinosa and his wife Barbara of Great Bend; sister in law, Barbara Espinosa of Great Bend; grandsons, Nicholas Espinosa, Ben Espinosa, Logan Espinosa and Kian Espinosa; granddaughters, Tiara Lawson, Emory Espinosa and Alaina Espinosa; great-granddaughter, Elliana Lawson.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jesse Espinosa.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend with Ed Forton presiding. Inurnment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials have been designated to Kingdom Hall, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
