Great Bend Post
Ten items are on the agenda for tonight's Great Bend City Council meeting. In July, Emily Johnson and Noah Brown spoke at a planning commission meeting to request rezoning of a property located at 217 S. U.S. Highway from Light Manufacturing/Service Commercial (LM-SC) to Agriculture.
This was being requested for Johnson and Brown to rebuild the house on the property if an act of God were to occur and due to financing the new house from the bank. To expand a residential use in a LM-SC zone, residents must either request a conditional use or rezone the property, which is the route Johnson and Brown chose. The planning commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the zoning request, which will be presented to the city council for final approval.
The council will also discuss and potentially move forward on step one of the PETRA Star Bond submittal and development project at a cost of $28,515. The project is eligible for reimbursement after the project is funded. The STAR Bond pertains to a project at the Expo Complex.
Tonight's city council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.
