Edgar 'Ed' Sandritter, age 89

Edgar Leslie “Ed” Sandritter, 89, died September 26, 2023, at his home in Hoisington. He was born July 1, 1934, in Arma, Kansas, the son of Edgar H. & Edna Faye (Scott) Sandritter. Ed graduated from Crawford County High School and attended college at Labette County Community College in Parsons, Kansas, where he played baseball. In 1956 he enlisted in the military serving as a Spec 3 with the United States Army.

On June 3, 1960, he married Judy L. Sutton, in Miami, Oklahoma. To this union was blessed a son, David and daughter, Jill. Always a hard worker, Ed worked for Schneider Construction and later Marlette Mobile Homes. In 1981 he became the director of buildings and grounds for Hoisington USD 431, retiring in 1999. They raised their family in Hoisington, where Ed was active in the children’s sports, coaching little league and serving as the Little League president. He loved all sports: basketball, football, track, tennis and would travel to watch and cheer whether it was high school, collegiate teams, K-State, KU, or Pittsburg State. He loved cheering for them all, especially if family was involved. He also loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Upon retirement Ed and Judy enjoyed traveling and Ed took up golfing, enjoying those times spent with his friends.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judy Sandritter of the home: son, David Sandritter and wife Sue of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Jill Sinclair and husband Matthew of Fort Collins, Colorado; granddaughter, Mallory Sinclair Ross and husband Daniel of Fort Collins, Colorado; a sister, Sharon Evans and husband Ed of Frontenac, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews: Frank Naccarato (Mary), Kathie Emerson, Karen Pace, Michael Evans (Letha), Matthew Evans (Amy), Brian Sutton (Marilyn), Angela Watson (Rob), Jason Sutton (Celestine), and Diane Zoeller (Eric).

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Lee Doss and Margaret Naccarato; a niece, Judy Doss, and two nephews, Danny Doss and Nicholas Reichuber.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
