Sunflower Diversified Services is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, which promises to make the next Charity Gala especially appealing, said Cody Harris, director of planned giving and community support.
The 21st annual Gala is set for 5:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Great Bend Events Center, 3111 10th St., Great Bend.
“We encourage individuals and businesses to mark their calendars for our biggest fundraiser of the year,” Harris said. “The children, adults and families we serve always appreciate the generosity of central Kansans who understand the needs of those with developmental disabilities and delays.
“Proceeds are used throughout the agency to enhance the lives of the individuals we serve in their homes, on the job and in our Beautiful Minds Art Studio. In addition, our Early Education Center and Incredible Years Preschool offer early-intervention programs that allow developmental delays to be alleviated and, in some cases, overcome.”
The cost for the Gala is $75 for a first-timer. Early-birds who sign up by Sept. 3 will pay $90 for a single and $700 for a table of eight. After that, the costs are $100 and $800.
For the first time, the Gala will offer a “bourbon pull,” which gives those who buy a ticket the chance to win a bottle of bourbon.
“With this new feature, along with gun drawings, and silent and live auctions, there is something for everyone,” Harris commented. “It is going to be a night to remember with our theme of ‘Cheers to 60 Years.’”
Lightfoot and Buehler will provide live music, while The Spread will supply appetizers. A & G Catering will cook up chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken, and Flavored Celebrations will bring the cupcakes for dessert.
There will be an open bar and wine on the tables, thanks to Hejny Liquor.
TR Esfeld and his son, Ty, will serve as auctioneers for a hot tub from Stueder Contractors and numerous other items. Shannon Towns and Evan Wedel, Eagle Radio deejays, will emcee.
