A motion to try a Great Bend juvenile accused of the first-degree murder of 14-year-old Rubi Perez as an adult was not heard Tuesday afternoon in Barton County District Court. The motion was continued to Aug. 26 and 27.
The state of Kansas, via the Barton County Attorney's Office, filed the motion on Monday. Though the case was recently unsealed by District Court Judge Levi Morris, certain documents, including the motion to try the juvenile as an adult, remain sealed.
Tuesday's hearing was held with several parties appearing by Zoom, including Wichita-based defense attorney Jesse Hoeme.
