GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Maize-native Caleb Grill scored 22 points, including two free throws with 5 seconds remaining, and Missouri stunned No. 5 Florida 83-82 on Tuesday night to end the Gators’ 16-game winning streak at home. Mark Mitchell added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers (14-3, 3-1 Southeastern Conference), who notched their first road win against a top-five team since 2012. Anthony Robinson II chipped in 12 points for Mizzou, which dominated the first half while building a 19-point lead. Grill hit four 3-pointers in the first 10 minutes, including three on consecutive possessions, as the Tigers kept pulling away. He also hit a 3 with 2:23 to play — although replays showed his foot was on the line. Nonetheless, the 24-year-old graduate student missed two free throws a minute later. He redeemed himself with the game on the line.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — NCAA President Charlie Baker said Tuesday night there’s plenty of time to figure out the best window for the transfer portal, hours after Football Bowl Subdivision coaches voted unanimously in favor of replacing the current two portal periods with one 10-day stretch in January starting in 2026. Baker, speaking with reporters at the NCAA Convention, said transfer windows are challenging because they must be built around academic calendars. “Everybody’s still going to college. One percent maybe will play pro,” Baker said. “It’s really important that we not lose sight of that. I get the fact that it’s a challenging calendar as it is, and I fully expect that that’ll get thoroughly vetted as it should, by the appropriate committees.” The coaches want to see just one portal from Jan. 2-12 for the 2025-26 academic year. That would eliminate the current football portals in December after the end of the regular season and April when spring practices conclude.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Naomi Osaka’s second-round match at the Australian Open could not possibly have started in a worse way. All of 21 minutes in, she sailed a forehand service return well long and, just like that, trailed 5-0. Osaka strode to the sideline for the changeover, plopped herself down and draped a white towel over her head, blocking out all sights and leaving her with just her thoughts. She stayed like that throughout the break between games, even maneuvering a water bottle under that towel to take a drink. This was not a match against some unknown opponent, someone Osaka knew for sure she could beat. It was against 20th-seeded Karolina Muchova, the runner-up at the 2023 French Open and a three-time semifinalist at other majors, including at Melbourne Park in 2021. Muchova also had defeated Osaka in their two most recent matchups. None of that mattered on this afternoon, though: Osaka forgot about that disappointing start and came all the way back to win 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Henri Veesaar scored 19 points and Arizona stretched its winning streak to seven games with an 81-70 victory over No. 25 Baylor on Tuesday night. The Wildcats (11-5, 5-0 Big 12) beat UCF 88-80 on Saturday, but coach Tommy Lloyd wasn’t thrilled after they blew most of a 17-point lead. Arizona responded with an early intensity the Bears (11-5, 3-2) couldn’t match, building a 27-point lead early in the second half behind a stifling defense. Baylor bounced back with a stellar second half, hitting eight straight shots to trim Arizona’s lead to 71-62 with 2 1/2 minutes left before running out of steam. Robert Wright III had 16 points and VJ Edgecome added 14 for the Bears, who shot 20 of 29 from the floor in the second half. Arizona’s Jaden Bradley had 13 points, six assists and five rebounds. The Wildcats shot 54% overall and 7 of 14 from 3-point range.

MILAN (AP) — There are renewed injury concerns for Christian Pulisic after the United States international limped out of AC Milan’s match at Como on Tuesday. Pulisic was forced off the pitch on the stroke of halftime, leaving Milan with 10 men for the final moments of the first period. He was replaced by Alejandro Jiménez for the second half. The 26-year-old Pulisic went down after being caught on the ankle by Como defender Marc-Oliver Kempf. He immediately waved the medical staff over and appeared to be pointing to his left thigh. His availability is unknown for Milan’s match at Juventus on Saturday. Pulisic had only just returned from injury — making his comeback in the Italian Super Cup, which Milan won. He had been out for nearly a month after tearing a muscle in his right calf and then sustaining a minor ankle issue. Pulisic scored in both the semifinal and the final of the Italian Super Cup.
