From the City of Russell...
At the Nov. 19, 2024 City Council Meeting, a contract was approved by the Governing Body appointing Kayla Schneider as the City of Russell’s City Manager. Schneider has served as Interim City Manager since September 1, 2024 upon the retirement of the previous City Manager, Jon Quinday.
Schneider has worked for the City of Russell since 2014, previously serving as Deputy City Manager. She graduated from Russell High School and attended Fort Hays State University. She received a Master’s degree in Public Administration and graduate certificates in City/County Management and Economic Development from Wichita State University.
Schneider is actively involved in the community and is passionate about rural development. Schneider stated “It is an honor and privilege to serve my home community as City Manager. As a public servant, I believe in this community. I am committed to seeing Russell thrive and grow. I understand the many challenges our community faces, but I am determined to continue to work to move our community forward and have full confidence in the team we have built to see us work together to accomplish our goals. I also am looking forward to continuing to develop and harness the collaborative spirit of my hometown, together we can move the needle of progress forward.”
Schneider and her husband Brian have four daughters, Emma, Scarlett, Jensyn, and Briar. In her personal time, she enjoys attending her children’s many activities, spending time outdoors and sharing time with her family and friends.
