Hoisington's Brier Thompson will continue his sprinting career at the next level. Earlier this week, Thompson signed a letter of intent to compete for Dodge City Community College next season.

"Dodge is getting a very outstanding athlete in Brier," said Hoisington track and field coach Dan Schmidt. "His skills are outstanding. I look forward to what he will accomplish in his future."

Dodge City will look to use Thompson as a multi-event athlete. Thompson recently placed fifth at state in a tough Class 3A 100m dash field with a time of 11.07s. Thompson routinely ran under 11 seconds this season. He also collected a 200m dash state medal as the eighth-place finisher. Thompson also ranked No. 13 in the Class 3A 300m hurdle field during the regular season, and he was part of Hoisington's 4x100m relay team that ranked No. 6 in the class.
