Dr. Carl Heilman became the president at Barton Community College in 2006 and will have the ability to keep serving in that role until at least 2024. The college’s Board of Trustees approved Heilman’s extended contract at their July meeting.
Board Chair Mike Johnson credited Heilman’s leadership and
the job he has done during difficult times for education.
"No matter where you are at, these are challenging times," said Johnson. "With Dr. Heilman's leadership and his leadership team in place, we feel like we'll continue to have the leadership we need to keep us moving in the right direction."
The details of Heilman’s contract remained the same, but the approval added a
year to his rolling contract.
"We provided some good feedback to him, and he provided some good responses to us," said Johnson. "I think we all agree the ship is running well."
Heilman is the fifth president in Barton’s history.
