Marline Joyce Amerine, 85, passed away July 29, 2023, at her home in Hoisington. She was born Dec. 8, 1937, at Nowata, Okla. to Charles and Ada (Adamson) Branham. She married Richard E. Amerine on Feb. 6, 1955, at Beaver.
A longtime area resident, Marline worked for Goss Insurance Agency and most recently worked for State Farm Insurance. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church, Hoisington, and the Heritage Club. However, one of her greatest joys came from sharing her banana bread with her family and many friends. She also loved her title of "The Piano Grandma" to Richard's students.
Survivors include, her husband, Richard E. Amerine of the home; two sons, Jeff Amerine and wife Leslie of Alabama, and Darren Amerine of Hoisington; a daughter, Chris Bitter and husband Mark of Great Bend; nine grandchildren, Cori Miller, Lacey Bonine (Dave), Klint Bitter, Lyndee McClung (Chase), Kayla Tucker (Garrett), Adam Amerine (Kyirsten), Joshua Amerine (Sara), Taylor Amerine and Jacob Amerine; 18 great-grandchildren, Madalyn Bonine, Alexander Bonine, Cora Bitter, Brynn Bitter, Ellie Bitter, Kamryn McClung, Elijah McClung, Jack Lawson, Beckett Tucker, Max Amerine, Eli Amerine, Zane Amerine, Zoey Amerine, Cadence Amerine, Grace Amerine, Landon Amerine, Noah Amerine, and Allison Amerine; a sister in law, Darlene Branham of Great Bend; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Sherie Amerine; two brothers, Donnie Branham and Jerry Branham; two sisters in law, Linda Branham and Joyce (Amerine) Saelens; an infant granddaughter, Tara Amerine; a grandson in law, Roch Miller; and great-grandson, Aiden Amerine.
Friends may sign the book from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main St., Hoisington, with family to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Reverend Denny Lewis presiding. Inurnment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington. Memorials have been designated to New Life Baptist Church in Hoisington or First Southern Baptist Church in Great Bend, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. Main St., Hoisington, KS 67544.
