From the Great Bend Police Department
Early Sunday morning, shortly after 4 a.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Monroe Street in Great Bend, following a report from a concerned citizen of a female yelling for help.
Upon arrival, officers contacted a female who reported that she had been involved in a domestic dispute. During the investigation, officers determined that Shawn Akins, 39, allegedly impeded the victim’s breathing during the dispute.
Akins was placed under arrest for Aggravated Domestic Battery and transported to the Barton County Jail, where he was booked and held in lieu of bond.
