Some of the big names will be missing but the cross country tradition continues at the Lake Barton course north of Great Bend. The Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) has announced that Lake Barton will host a Class 5A regional for the seventh-straight year.
Lake Barton has often hosted two regional races. Only 5A will be running a regional at the site this year. The girls' race is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, followed by the boys' race at 10:40 a.m.
This year's field will include runners from Great Bend, Goddard, Goddard-Eisenhower, Hays, Hutchinson, Newton, Salina Central, Salina South, and Valley Center.
