The City Connecting Link Improvement Program (CCLIP) is a federal and state-funded program that provides funds in Kansas to address deficiencies on state highways within city limits.

The Kansas Department of Transportation announced a delay in this year’s project for the City of Great Bend, but Public Works Director Jason Cauley said CCLIP street repairs will be accepting bids soon.

"Engineers are going to give us the final plans," said Cauley. "We're planning to have the bid opening day around December 20."

The CCLIP project will include repairs from the Main Street bridge to 2nd Street. Patton Road, from 9th to 10th, will also be resurfaced. Cauley told the Great Bend City Council Monday he expected the work to begin next spring or early summer.

"I'm sure you have all seen Patton right now, where it's in pretty bad shape," added Cauley. "Hopefully, next spring we'll get that taken care of."

Required matching funds for projects are based on population. A city with a population less than 25,000 is required to contribute 10% of the project’s cost.
