Emil D. Potter, Jr., 65, passed away November 30, 2024, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on August 15, 1959, in Larned, Kansas, to Emil D. and Diana (Cole) Potter. On September 3, 1980, he married Genea Slankard in Great Bend, Kansas.
A lifetime area resident, Emil worked as a security guard both at Larned State Correctional Facility as well as Red Barn Pet Products, and as an assembler at Primus. He enjoyed playing bass, fishing, wood working, gardening, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter, Stephanie Bolt and husband James of Hoisington; granddaughter, Hannah Potter of Hoisington; two great-grandsons, Caiden Bitter and Brayden Fry; two sisters, Elva Potter and Tina Johnson, both of Great Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place from noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Morrison presiding. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials have been designated to Autism Speaks or the Emil Potter Jr. Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
