The Barton Community College baseball team continued its strong run on the mound, earning its second straight Jayhawk West Conference Pitcher of the Week honor as freshman Brian Justice captured the league's Week 3 distinction.

Justice secured the distinction after delivering a dominant six-inning performance in Barton's 6-1 victory over Allen County. The freshman right-hander scattered just one hit, struck out a career-best eight, and did not issue a walk while improving to 2-0 on the season.

The only blemish against Justice came on a two-out double in the fourth inning, with a two-out hit-by-pitch in the sixth representing the only other baserunner. Outside of those two moments, he was nearly untouchable, retiring 16 of the 18 batters he faced and requiring just 74 pitches to complete his six-inning gem.

Justice's selection marks the second consecutive week a Cougar has claimed the conference's weekly pitching honor, joining sophomore Landon Haines' Week 2 recognition.

Most recently, the Cougars erupted for the second-highest single-game run total in program history, plating 28 runs in Wednesday's 28-5 seven-inning run-rule victory over Bethany College JV.

Now 9-0 on the year, Barton resumes its homestand Monday and Tuesday after weekend postponements due to inclement weather, hosting Northeast Community College and Highland Community College. First pitch for both doubleheaders is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Jimmy Lawson-Danny Biggs Field.
