Charles Lynn Batman, 84, passed away on January 29, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Blue Eye, Missouri. He was born on February 24, 1941, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Ralph Ermin and Martha Frances (Brown) Batman. Charles married Martha Louise McAdoo on April 1, 1960, in Russell, Kansas. She passed on January 31, 2022.

A life-time area resident in Barton, Russell, and Rush counties, Charles was the head of security for Barton Community College for 15 years. During his younger years, he served in the Army National Guard from 1961-1967. Charles enjoyed walleye fishing, hunting, collecting artifacts – particularly Native American artifacts, playing guitar, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include daughter, Shelly (Chuck) Nelson of Blue Eye, Missouri; son, Brian (Cindy) Batman of Great Bend, Kansas; six grandchildren, Jessica Berg, Melissa Berg (Matt), Charlie (Shelby) Nelson, Joshua (Caitlin) Nelson, Sam (Anna) Nelson, Zach (Anna) Nelson; seventeen great grandchildren, Maddyson, Havyn, Shaili, Triston, Taybree, Kirstyn, Mason, Maddux, Hayden, Hallie, Braydon, Kailyn, Ryker, Talynn, Theo, Claire, and Jamie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Ralph Batman and Elmo Batman; and two sisters, Frieda Ilene Orr and LaWanda Mae Farrell.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Gray presiding.
