Back for a fifth year, the city of Great Bend City announced this year's city-wide cleanup is scheduled for Oct. 9-18. This is an opportunity for residents to clear out unwanted items and help keep the community clean.
Construction dumpsters will be available at the Sunflower Diversified Recycling Center, 5605 10th Street, where residents can bring their unwanted items and dump them at no charge.
Items allowed at this year's cleanup include:
- Metal
- Mattresses
- Appliances
Items not allowed at this year's cleanup include:
- Tires
- Construction Waste
- Household hazardous waste
Recycling will also be available through Sunflower Diversified Recycling Center, including paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, glass bottles, and more.
This year's cleanup begins with a full day from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. Saturday, Oct. 10 will also be a full day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours for Monday, Oct. 12 through Friday, Oct. 16 will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours on both Sundays included in the 2026 edition are 1-5 p.m., and hours on Saturday, Oct. 17 will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
