Daryll Urban, age 75

Daryll James Urban, 75, La Crosse, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at his home.

Daryll was born Nov. 4, 1948, in Hays, the son of Alfred Thomas and Esther Marie (Urban) Urban. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County. A 1966 graduate of Victoria High School, he was multitalented and mostly self-employed in a number of endeavors before his retirement. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, a Knight of Columbus, and a Vietnam War veteran serving in the United States Navy. Having grown up on a farm, he enjoyed fishing, radio-control airplanes, target-shooting, and being outside in general.

Survivors include four brothers: Reginald A. Urban, Hays, Alan L. Urban (Sue), La Crosse, Maynard Urban, Hutchinson, and Kevin J. Urban (Barbara), Salina; one sister, Pam A. Hamel (Stan), Leavenworth; six nephews: Matthew Urban (Jen), Jake Urban (Aubrey), Jered Hamel (Alisa), Chris Urban (Cheryl), Brandon Hamel (Becca), and Phillip Urban (Taylor); five nieces: Beka Morse (Courtney), Rachel Chushuk (Richard), Andrea Mandour (Firas), Lisa Urban, and Miranda Urban (fiancé: Georic Musser). six great-nephews: Henry Morse, Oliver Urban, Paul Chushuk, Brody Hamel, Theo Urban, and Wesley Urban; and five great-nieces: Pearl Urban, Harper Urban, Claire Morse, Amelia Hamel, and Maggie Chushuk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Esther.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, with Father Reginald A. Urban presiding and preaching. The Knights of Columbus will lead a Rosary at 9:45 a.m. before the Funeral Mass. Inurnment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and the Kansas Honor Flight.
