Father Reggie Urban, pastor at Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend, is hosting a pair of presentations this Sunday in Great Bend at the Motherhouse auditorium located at 3600 Broadway Ave. On July 12 at 2 p.m., Father Reggie will give an encore of his 45-minute presentation about Father Valentine Sommereisen, the French priest who founded the eight parishes within half an hour of Hays 150 years ago, including Liebenthal, Victoria, Schoenchen, Munjor, and Catharine.
“He wasn’t involved in the building because he was only here 19 months,” Urban said. “He was the founder of eight parishes in 19 months he was here.”
Following that presentation, Father Reggie will be selling and signing his new handbook, “See, I am Making All Things New.” The book may be purchased for $20.
“The book is my attempt to help Catholic people have an easier time reading and understanding the Bible,” he said. “It’s more like a handbook.”
As a reminder, the Motherhouse will also be hosting a pair of open houses, with the first to take place on Saturday, July 25, and the second on Sunday, Sept. 27. Both open houses will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., giving the public an opportunity to visit and walk the grounds before the facility closes its doors at the end of 2026.
