Pfannenstiel's upset of No. 1 highlights trio of top 4 Finishes at Weekend Duels in Utah

The Barton Community College wrestling team wrapped up its two-day stay in Richfield, Utah, competing Friday at the Cornerman Luke Memorial Duals and Saturday at the Cornerman Luke Memorial Open, posting a 1-2 dual mark and earning three individual placers while combining for 27 match victories across the weekend.

Day 1 – Cornerman Luke Memorial DualsThe Cougars opened the weekend trip with three duals on Friday, finishing 1-2 against a field highlighted by No. 2 Western Wyoming Community College, Colorado Northwestern Community College, and Trinidad State College.

Barton's standout effort came at 149-pounds, where Brennen Pfannenstiel produced a perfect 3-0 day and delivered one of the meet's biggest upsets with a fall over No. 1 Thommy Dalton of Western Wyoming in 3:50.

Additional multiple-match winners included S'Ron Hill (184) and Brody Schnoebelen (197), who each finished the day 2-1.

The Cougars dropped their opener to No. 2 Western Wyoming, 50-6, before falling 32-23 in a tightly contested dual with Colorado Northwestern. Barton closed the day's slate with a 28-21 win over Trinidad State, powered by four wins including Pfannenstiel's pin, Hill's tech fall and open weight victories at 197 and 285.

Day 2 – Cornerman Luke Memorial OpenBarton returned to the mats Saturday for the individual portion of the weekend, combining for a 26-25 overall record while earning three top-four finishes.

Leading the effort was Pfannenstiel at 149 pounds, placing runner-up behind a 3-1 day that included two falls, highlighted by a semifinal pin advancing him into the championship bout. His lone setback came in a rematch with Western Wyoming's top-ranked Dalton.

At 125, Julian Orrantia produced a strong 4-2 performance to finish fourth, reeling off three straight consolation victories all by fall to reach the medal round.

Barton's final placement came at 197, where Schnoebelen took fourth behind a 3-2 effort featuring two pins, including a 45-second opening round fall.

Six additional Cougars recorded multi-win outings on the day, Jamal Garrett (3-2), Kike Yanez (2-2), Joshua "AJ" Almanza (2-2), Shane Todd (2-2), Clayton Considine (2-2), and Kamden Wise (2-2).Barton will conclude the November slate Saturday at the UNK Younes Hospitality Open held in Kearney, Nebraska.
