The Southwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging (SWKAAA) is a planning, coordinating, and funding agency that serves senior citizens in 28 counties in southwest Kansas, including Barton. Linn Hogg has previously served on the SWKAAA sub-region council. After a year off, she is again eligible to serve on the council and was the lone applicant for the term. Tuesday morning, Barton County Commissions appointed Hogg to the council.
"SWKAA helps determine long-term needs and adequate programs for all senior citizens in southwest Kansas," Barton County Administrator Matt Patzner told the commission. "Appointees are required to attend four quarterly meetings per year, with mileage reimbursed. The uncompensated position ends September 2026."
County commissioners from each of the 28 counties appoint three individuals to serve on the sub-regional council. Those members then elect representatives to serve on the SWKAAA Board of Directors.
