The cold weather season is just around the corner and many in Barton County and throughout Central Kansas have little or no access to heat. Live Like Jesus Today Ministries and Sandra Burton Massage in Great Bend are co-sponsoring the Rest Easy Sleeping Bag Project to help children and adults in need. Burton is taking donations and Buzz Birney with the ministry is handling distribution.

"We have a goal of 1,000 sleeping bags by the end of the year," Burton said. "That's going to take care of Barton County, Wichita, potentially Dodge City and Salina. Buzz works with everybody."

For a tax-deductible donation of $17.50, one sleeping bag may be purchased. An entire case of 10 bags can be purchased for a $175 donation. Donations of any amount will make a difference.

"If five people donated $35 each, that would purchase an entire case of sleeping bags," Burton said. "Even smaller donations of $5 or $10 will add up and allow us to purchase more bags. Every sleeping bag changes the life of the person receiving it."

There are several ways to donate: Checks may be made payable to Sandra Burton, or checks may be made out to LLJT for a donation receipt. Cash or checks may be dropped off at First Kansas Bank, 4001 10th Street in Great Bend.  Donations are also accepted through the Live Like Jesus Today Ministries webpage by CLICKING HERE and typing "sleeping bags" in the special instruction box. If using the website, consider adding an additional $3 per case due to PayPal's processing fee.
