Jack D. Richardson, 84, passed away on August 29, 2022, at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Okla. He was born on February 2, 1938, at Arkansas City, Kansas to Fred & Edith (Sanner) Richardson. On March 7, 1957, Jack married Sharolyn “Shari” Rowe in Winfield, Kan. She passed on April 14, 2004.
Coming to Great Bend in 1969, Jack worked in the oilfield and truck driving for over 40 years for Slawson Drilling and Jack B. Kelley, prior to his retirement. The rig hands always talked about the strength of his hands. Jack got great satisfaction playing practical jokes on everyone. “Grandpa Jack” enjoyed spending time with his grandson and great-grandchildren, watching them play sports.
Survivors include a daughter: Vicki Richardson of Great Bend, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Carla Richardson, of Woodward, Okla.; a grandson, Josh (Lexi) Richardson, of Edmond, Okla.; three sisters: Margaret, Betty and Joan.; two step grandsons, Brandon and Kevin Williams; a step granddaughter, PeggySue Brown; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shari Richardson; a son, David Richardson; three brothers; and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2022, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Pastor Larry Schumacher presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to United Way of Central Kansas’ Laundry Love Project, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
