The No. 26 ranked Barton Community College men's golf team placed fourth this week at the two-day KJCCC Championships held at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton.
The Cougars opened strong with the field's third-best round Monday morning before slipping into fourth following an afternoon 318. Barton held its position on Tuesday, carding an improved 315 to close out the event.
Barton compiled a final 73-over 937 team score, twenty-eight strokes behind third-place No. 18 Dodge City. Hutchinson, ranked No. 7 in the latest poll, captured the team title with an 875, distancing No. 12 Garden City by twenty-four strokes, while Coffeyville rounded out the five-team field at 1026.
Matteu Cauvin-Piacentini and Wintakorn Suwanmuang each climbed the leaderboard in Tuesday's final round, posting matching 77s to finish tied for 15th at 16-over 232, earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. Cauvin-Piacentini opened with a 73 before slipping to 16th following an 82 in round two, while Suwanmuang posted rounds of 75 and 80 to sit alongside his teammate entering the final day.
Landon Timmermeyer placed 23rd overall at 21-over 237 (74-83-80), while Phattarapol Ongla tied for 24th at 22-over 238 (82-75-81). Kobey Jackson finished tied for 27th at 25-over 241 (79-78-84), Talon Reynolds' consistent 82-81-83 rounds placed him in a tie for 30th at 30-over 246, and Cooper Lucke rounded out Barton's entries in 34th at 39-over 255 (84-87-84).
Barton returns to the links next Monday in the two-day Region 6 Championships held at Manhattan's Colbert Hills Golf Course.
