2026 Autism Disorders workshop, a program serving children and adults with autism, has been chosen to receive a $5,000 matching grant from the Pilot International Founders Fund, Macon, Ga. The workshop is featuring National Speaker Amy Nelson, Play Therapist, ECSE Clinical Social Worker, Autism Advocate, and best-selling author of “Every Bunny Can Learn: A Tail of Inclusion.”

This will be the fourth workshop held by the Pilot Club of Great Bend, where our sponsorship has brought help, resources, guidance, knowledge and awareness to Central and Western Kansas. Since 2018, the purpose of these workshops was to aid family members and professionals to understand, and better cope with the daily challenges that autistic children and adult face, providing skills to manger stress and anxiety levels while improving coping skills during educational, play activities, and job situations.

The Pilot Club of Great Bend, chartered in 1987, submitted the grant request on behalf of Great Bend Pilot Special Autism Committee and matched the Founder’s Club grant of $5,000. The goal of Pilot International is to promote and create awareness for persons with brain disorders and disabilities. Great Bend Pilot is active in Great Bend and surrounding communities in supporting this goal.
