Great Bend Public Schools (USD 428) will conduct a planned Safety Reunification Exercise on Monday, September 28, during a scheduled in-service staff training day.
There will be no school for students on this day.
The exercise is designed to give staff hands-on practice with emergency response protocols to ensure a safe, coordinated environment across all district facilities. During the morning session, USD 428 staff will receive instruction on the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) before transitioning into a practical Reunification Exercise.

路 Traffic Advisory: Local law enforcement will block traffic on 19th Street near Great Bend High School from approximately 10:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m. to facilitate the drill safely.
路 Public Notice: Community members and passersby in the area should expect an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel during this timeframe.
"It鈥檚 important to keep safety at the top of our minds," said John Popp, Assistant Superintendent. "Training scenarios like this allow our staff and emergency partners to practice, refine, and ensure we are fully prepared for all manner of emergencies."
