19 games into the 2020 season, the Cheney Diamond Dawgs remain perfect. Cheney continued their amazing start Friday night by beating the Great Bend Bat Cats 6-3 to improve to 19-0 overall and 16-0 in the Sunflower Collegiate League. The victory also completed a 4 game sweep of Great Bend as the Diamond Dawgs continued their dominance of SCL teams.

Great Bend did have a lead in this game, something that teams may have to look as being a big accomplishment against the talented Diamond Dawgs. That 1-0 lead was short lived however as Cheney scored twice in the second for a 2-1 lead, then added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth for a 5-2 lead. The Diamond Dawgs extended the lead to 6-2 in the seventh before the Bat Cats added a single run in the ninth to make the final score 6-3.

Jarrett Seaton took the loss for Great Bend allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in 4-innings of work. Shortstop Seth Kenagy had 2 hits and 2 rbi's for the Bat Cats who dropped to 9-10 overall and 8-8 in the SCL.

After taking July 4th off, Great Bend will begin a 4 game series against the Hays Larks Sunday at Al Burns Field with a 3 p.m. contest. The two teams play again Monday night before wrapping up the series with games in Hays on Tuesday and Wednesday.
