From the Great Bend Police Department...

On Aug. 30, at approximately 1:23 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department was dispatched to the 5800 block of Aspen Dr. in reference to criminal threats. The officer was advised that a male subject, identified as Phillip Markum, age 23, had made threats to kill staff members, as well as a girlfriend who lived out of town. After investigation, the officer placed Markum under arrest without incident and booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of bond.

On Aug. 31, at approximately 6:37 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department was dispatched to the 1400 block of 19th Street in reference to criminal threats. The officer was advised that the suspect, Doyle Stout, age 54, had made threats to kill the victim over the phone. After investigation, the officer attempted to locate Stout and had Barton County Dispatch air an attempt to locate on Stout. On Sept. 1, at approximately 12:07 p.m., Stout turned himself in to the Barton County Jail where he was booked in lieu of bond.

On Sept. 2, at approximately 11:01 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Cherry Ln. While the officer was conducting the stop, police K9 Niko was used for a free air sniff of the vehicle, during which he indicated that there was an odor of drugs. The vehicle was searched, and methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found. Mark Keenan, age 37, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Keenan was booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of bond.
