John Burchill, Professor Emeritus of Criminal Justice at Kansas Wesleyan University. will present the program, “People, Places, and Politics in 1800s Kansas” at 7 p.m., Monday, August 24th in the Library at the Barton County Historical Society. Pioneer James R. Mead played a role in commerce, politics and conservation and is known as one of the founding fathers of Wichita. The program is made possible by Humanities Kansas and is free and open to the public. The Barton County Historical Society is just south of the Arkansas River bridge on Highway 281.
