Bajracharya and Tsiang claim opening day victories at National's

The 6th ranked Barton Community College men's tennis team got off to a good start on day one of the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Championships, winning both of their schedule matches at the JoAnn Medlock Murphy Tennis Center in Tyler, Texas.

The Cougars are seeded in seven of their nine entries, leaving two in beginning their National quest in the opening round.

In the morning session, Tsholofelo Tsiang opened up No. 6 singles play with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Edward Shteyn of Collin College.

Returning for the afternoon season to team up with Samyak Bajracharya in the No. 3 doubles, the duo dispatched Alvaro Saint Martin/Emilio Vila of Tyler Junior College 6-0, 6-1.

The two are joined by the rest of the Cougars for day two's 2nd Round action beginning at 8:00 a.m. with the No. 1 and 2 singles play of Gustavo Campos and fellow 6th seed James Kaoma. At 9:15 a.m. time, 7th seed No. 3 Eduardo Morais and 3rd seed No. 4 Barnabas Kalaba get started, being followed at 10:30 a.m. by 5th seed Bajracharya at the No. 5 singles and Tsiang back on the court at the No. 6.

The No. 1 and 2 doubles action begins at noon, Campos/Morais as the 6th seed in the top spot with Kaoma/Barnabas wearing the 3rd seed target in the second flight. Bajracharya/Tsiang return for their match at 1:15 p.m. in the No. 3 duo flight.
