Another dangerous building was assigned a public hearing to possibly demolish the structure on 12th Street in Great Bend. An investigation was conducted on the principal structure at 2521 12th Street with the City of Great Bend’s building official citing several deficiencies.
City Administrator Logan Burns said the roof has collapsed and the roof structure is hanging into the alley.
"The front facia is missing along the west side of the house exposing the bottom section of the rafters to the elements," said Burns. "The building official was able to confirm that the house has no utilities currently in service. It's an unsanitary condition for anyone to try to occupy the house."
The Great Bend City Council approved a resolution for the dangerous building, setting a public hearing for Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. If no progress to repair the structure has been made by then, the council will have the option to move forward with demolishing the building.
