
On Sunday, June 15, at approximately 4:53 a.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department was dispatched to a location in the 1300 block of Stone Street in Great Bend in reference to a domestic violence incident. The incident was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 1700 block of Morton Street.
Upon arrival, officers contacted a female victim who reported being held against her will for approximately 38 hours by her boyfriend. The victim stated that during this time, her phone was taken from her, she was physically restrained inside the residence, and she was not permitted to leave. She further reported being physically assaulted, including being choked, resulting in visible bruising to her neck, arms, and chest. The victim advised that she and the suspect reside together at the residence on Morton Street.
The suspect, identified as Edgar Loya, a 30-year-old male, was located at the residence and taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported to the Barton County Jail, where he was booked for aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and criminal damage to property in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
