The Cottonwood Extension District and Rice County Extension will be hosting a Winter Cow – Calf Nutrition Program on Jan. 31 in Lyons, KS. The program will focus on developing and maintaining proper beef cow nutrition programs coming out of a drought and going into the calving season.
Lunch will be served at promptly at noon, graciously sponsored by KSU Veterinary Diagnostic Lab. The program will kick off at 12:30 PM with Dr. Gregg Hanzlicek, KSU College of Veterinary Medicine, as he discusses ‘Vitamin A considerations for Beef Cows: Important Even Under Drought Conditions’. Next, you’ll hear from Alicia Boor, Cottonwood Extension office, on ‘Vaccine Storage and Handling’. Lastly, you’ll hear from K-State Research and Extension’s new Cow- Calf Specialist, Dr. Jason Warner. Warner’s presentation will be focusing on ‘Rethinking Beef Cow Nutrition in Today’s Environment’. Speakers will stick around for a short time for any addition questions from attendees.
The program will take place at the Rice County Extension office, located at 701 E. Main street in Lyons.
