The Great Bend Recreation Commission is helping to host a disc golf tournament on Aug. 19 at Veterans Memorial Park.
The most important aspect of a Trilogy Challenge is to get new players out to play disc golf and have fun. For the $40 registration fee, each competitor will receive a player pack that has a retail value over $70 and includes everything a new player needs to enjoy the sport. Included in the player pack are a putter, midrange and driver that are all designed to be beginner friendly discs.
The three discs provided are the only discs the competitors are allowed to use during the round. The competition will include one round of 18 holes. For the Great Bend event, participants will be playing a modified course that does not play around the lake so that players do not risk losing one of their brand-new discs. A prize pack valued at over $250 (including trophy discs) will be spread out to the top finishers across each flight/division.
There will be a minimum of three flights that the general division will be separated into once all scores have been posted. Women and junior (under 18 years old) will also sign up for the general division but each will be entered into their own division for trophy and prize purposes. Experienced players will also enjoy playing in a Trilogy Challenge because they will have access to these three discs in plastics that are only available through a Trilogy Challenge.
Local professional/experienced players will be onsite to give tips and teach new players the rules of the game.
