Great Bend will host a city-wide cleanup for a second consecutive year
as City Administrator Brandon Anderson announced the dates Monday night.
Teaming up with Sunflower Diversified Services Recycling Center, the cleanup
will take place Sept. 8 - Sept. 17 at
the recycling center at 5605 10th Street.
"I think we're getting most of the tree limbs taken care of in the last couple of weeks," said Anderson. "Certainly take advantage of this opportunity and let's get things cleaned up as we can."
Tires, metal, mattresses and appliances will be accepted during the city-wide
cleanup.
With several construction dumpsters positioned on the lot, Great Bend filled 51
commercial-sized dumpsters last year. There were 59 tons of municipal solid
waste, 75 tons of tires and nearly five tons of mattresses. Excluding labor from
city staff that assisted residents with unloading, the city’s expense was just
under $20,000.
Great Bend city-wide cleanup hours:
Friday, Sept. 8 (9 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
Saturday, Sept. 9 (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
Sunday, Sept. 10 (1 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
