In May, the Great Bend City Council signed an amendment to move forward with 100 percent of the design on the SRCA Dragstrip west of town. Tonight, the council will vote on a second amendment to the project.

An exhibit in the amendment shows the full costs for requirements and construction. The agreement with Bartlett and West for $5.2 million would include demolition and grading, timing system removal, dragstrip paving, crash walls, and an allowance for tower reconstruction for moving the track start line 300 feet to the west.

Monday's meeting will also feature a discussion about the 2025 Asphalt Resurfacing Project and the lone bid from Venture Corporation for just over $1 million. The intent is to resurface a high-volume street in 24th Street, and also some residential streets including Broadway, 19th Street, and Morton Street.

Airport Manager Martin Miller will also report on a pair of Kansas Department of Transportation grant offers totaling $493,415, which will be used to improve the airport.

Tonight's city council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.
