Great Bend Public Works Director Jason Cauley gave a weekly update of his department’s activity at this week’s Great Bend City Council meeting. Cauley announced the number of water leaks caused from the switch to the Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) is down to five residences. Those five should be repaired by the end of the week.

City crews also started crack sealing streets this week. Cauley estimated the crack sealing will take up to a month and a half to complete.

"At this moment, we're doing 10th Street, north to 24th Street and east by Holland," said Cauley. "Then we'll move more to the central part of the city. We will not be doing some of the main streets, but we'll be more in the central part of the city."

The Public Works department is also replacing three fire hydrants this week at Fire Station #2, at the intersection of 8th Street and Eisenhower and at 10th Street and MacArthur.
